Donald Trump, pockets of protesters around the country, and others are clamoring for the United States to be "reopened" from the severe lockdown conditions it's been under to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus, but that won't happen until individual testing for the virus ramps up dramatically.

Public health professionals and government officials continue to tell Americans that the road back from the strict lockdown conditions and social distancing measures which have become a fact of life for most Americans in the fight to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, will rely on getting massive testing, tracking and contact-tracing programs up and running.

Although infections from the novel coronavirus appear to have perhaps turned a corner in hardest-hit New York, Gov Andrew Cuomo (D) put some sober perspective on that, while also continuing to look forward to when the Empire State might once again open it's doors.

Congress has already had to set up a special committee dedicated to watchdogging the administration's use of funds made available in the recent $2 trillion economic stimulus package. Now it appears that lawmakers will also have to investigate whole other examples of what's either incompetence or someone with a hand in a federal cookie jar, trying to actually profit off of this disease.

Contrary to Donald Trump’s claims, the outgoing Obama administration left the National Strategic Stockpile fully stocked and ready to supply the nation in the face of the public health crisis like a pandemic.

That's according to a variety of public health professionals and others who foresee a longer road ahead to bring the country--and the world--back to normal.

Although House Democrats are planning legislation to establish a nonpartisan commission intended to study the federal response to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, in the meantime House committees have begun their own investigations into the government's response to the crisis. And that includes the House Intelligence Committee.

Gov Andrew Cuomo (D), who has been delivering grim news daily from the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic to the nation via his televised coronavirus briefings, clearly was pleased to present something hopeful for a change.
