After enduring an ongoing campaign to twist his stutter into evidence of “cognitive decline,” Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has challenged Donald Trump.
Trump and his allies have been, for some time now, attempting to portray Biden as in the grip of impending dementia and incapable of the job of president.
If he wins the election, at 78 Biden would be the oldest American in US history to begin a presidential term.
Biden, however, has put that talk to rest with an extremely well-received address delivered to accept the Democratic presidential nomination last week.
It’s enough for Biden to go on the offensive.
“Watch me. Mr. President, watch me. Look at us both, what we say, what we do, what we control, what we know, what kind of shape we’re in — come on,” Biden said during a Sunday TV interview. “Look, I think it’s a legitimate question to ask anybody over 70 years old whether or not they’re fit and whether they’re ready. But the only thing I can say to the American people, it’s a legitimate question to ask anybody. Watch me.”
