Joe Biden’s off to the strongest start of any American president in nearly a century.

That’s according to someone who ought to know: former vice president Al Gore, who served for eight years as No 2 under President Bill Clinton.

“Well, first of all, I am so proud of President Joe Biden. Really and truly, this is not a partisan comment, Don. Our country needs this kind of leadership,” Gore said in an on-air interview with CNN host Don Lemon. “I honestly think that he is off to a stronger start in the first 50-some odd days of any president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I really — I see it. And he’s offering healing words to the country, he’s trying to encourage people to get vaccinated.”

Biden last week signed into law the $1.9 trillion COVID relief package he helped shepherd through Congress and also addressed the American people on television in primetime, vowing to register all adult Americans for COVID-19 vaccination by May.

“That’s the answer to your question, he’s going out there and promoting the vaccination program and making sure that the economic rescue is fully implemented,” Gore added.
